Epitaph on The World

Here lies the body of this world,
Whose soul alas to hell is hurled,
This golden youth long since was past,
Its silver manhood went as fast,
An iron age drench on at last;
'Tis vain its character to tell,
The several fates which it befell,
What year it died, when 'twill arise,
We only know that here it lies.

~H.D. Thoreau

Ever After

To live ever after
Is such a grand desire
That each individual strives for
At one time or another in their life
A desire that yearns to find that gift
Which seems to last forever

But to live to find a love like is found only in a dream
For when we dreams we eventually wake up,
Only to find our dream shattered into a nightmare
So why do it? Why fall for just one small feeling
For one split second in a lifetime
All for love?

They say to experience such a tender and fragile gift
One must find what's in themselves first
Who they really are
Learn to love yourself
And appreciate tha you, may just be worth something special
So special it will catch the eye of another
Who will love you for who you are
And not for the mask
from which you hide yourself from the world everyday
Let yourself free from all the pressures
That try to dictate who you are
or who you could become

Sometimes the best gifts in life are takes with the biggest risks
It may cause some heartache
But to have just one taste of life
To savor the delicious flavors and breathe in its sweet scents
Would just satisfy my ever lonely, empty soul

Oh! If I could only escape from reality
And into a fantasy
A fantasy where I will Find Myself, my love, and my Ever After..

~from the movie ever after:a cinderella story

Quotable Quotes pt. 1

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
You are the guy who'll decide where to go.
~Dr. Seuss

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately
to front only the essential facts of life
and see if I could not learn what it had to teach
and not, when I came to die
discover that I had not lived
~Tennyson, Walden

There is no news in fear
but in the end it's fear
that drowns you.
~Anne Sexton, Imitation of Drowning

But there is suffering in life, and there are defeats. No one can avoid them. But it's better to lose some of the battles in the struggles for your dreams than to be defeated without ever knowing what you're fighting for.
~Paulo Coelho

We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are we are, --
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield
~Tennyson, Ulysses

We we dreamers, dreaming greatly, in the man-stifled town;
We yearned beyond the sky-line where the strange roads go down.
Came the Whisper, came the Vision, came the Power with the Need,
Till the Soul that is not man's soul was lent us to lead.
~R. Kipling, The Song Of The Dead

Friendship

I think awhile of Love, and while I think,
Love is to me a world,
Sole meat and sweetest drink,
And close connecting link
Tween heaven and earth.

I only know it is, not how or why,
My greatest happiness;
However hard I try,
Not if I were to die,
Can I explain.

I vain would ask my friend how it can be,
But when the time arrives,
Then Love is more lovely
Than anything to me,
And so I'm dumb.

For if the truth were known, Love cannot speak,
But only thinks and does;
Though surely out 'twill leak
Without the help of Greek,
Or any tongue.

A man may love the truth and practise it,
Beauty he may admire,
And goodness not omit,
As much as may befit
To reverence

But only when these three together meet,
As they always incline,
And make one soul the seat,
And favorite retreat,
Of loveliness;

When under kindred shape, like loves and hates
And a kindred nature,
proclaim us to be mates,
Exposed to equal fates,
Eternally;

And each may other help, and service do,
Drawing Love's bands more tight,
Service he ne'er shall rue
While one and one make two,
And two are one;

In such case only doth man fully prove
Fully as man can do,
What power there is in Love
His inmost soul to move
Resistlessly.

Two sturdy oaks I mean, which side by side,
Withstand the winter's storm,
And spite of wind and tide,
Grow up the meadow's pride,
For both are strong

Above they barely touch, but undermined
Down to their deepest source,
Admiring you shall find
Their roots are intertwined
Insep'rably.

~H.D. Thoreau

We and They

Father, and Mother, and Me,
Sister, and Auntie say
All the people like us are We,
And everyone else is They.
And They live over the sea,
While We live over the way,
But - would you believe it? - They look upon We
As only a sort of They!

We eat pork and beef
With cow -horn- handled knives.
They who gobble Their rice off a leaf,
Are horrified out of Their lifes;
While they who live up a tree,
And feast on grubs and clay,
(Isn't it scandalous?) look upon We
As a simply disgusting They!

We shoot birds with a gun.
They stick lions with spears.
Their full-dress is un-.
We dress up to Our ears.
They like their friends for tea.
We like our friends to stay;
And, after all that, They look upon We
As an utterly ignorant They!

We eat kitcheny food.
We have door that latch.
They drink milk or blood,
Under an open thatch.
We have doctors to fee.
They have wizards to pay.
And (impudent heaven!) They look upon We
As a quite impossible They!

All good people agree,
And all good people say,
All nice people, like Us, are We
And everyone else is They:
But if you cross over the sea,
Instead of over the way,
You may end by (think of it!) looking on We
As only a sort of They!

~Rudyard Kipling

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair;
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, And I-
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.

~Robert Frost

If

If you can keep you head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies
Or being hated don't give way to hating
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken
And stoop and build 'em with worn out tools

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold On!!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue
Or walk with Kings--nor lose the common touch
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you
If all men count with you, but none too much
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run
Yours is the earth, and everything that's in it
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

~Rudyard Kipling

O Me! O Life!

O me! O Life!.. of the questions of these recurring
Of the endless trains of the faithless -- of cities fill's with the foolish
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light -- of the objects mean -- of the struggle renew'd
Of the poor results of all -- of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me
Of the empty and useless years of the rest -- with the rest me intertwined
The question, O me! so sad, recurring -- what good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer,
That you are here, that life exists and identity
That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse

~Walt Whitman
